A day in life of a window curtain.

15 September, 2020

While you wouldn’t be able to see through my opaque existence, I see right through your transparent shell.

My dear window friend, I exist at times to compliment your external beauty or at times to camouflage your very reason of being.

When the little ones peer through, they first slide me aside with those impatient fingers to view magnificent wonders beyond you. Their world awaits to come alive whilst hidden behind me, cheeky, yet you often let in the vagrant breeze and make the little ones dwell. Much of their exhilarating ecstasy passes the barriers of you and me, and yet somehow, we shelter them from much more than the worldly disguise.

Are we both a mere dent to the walls on the either sides, acting as a tunnel of light between the real and the unreal? Or am I just an innocent dreamer, a means to hide from a temporary amusement?
